Juan Ramiro Torres was born in Lima, Peru and has lived in the United States since 1984. His painting reflects feelings that reveal his origins, not only as a Hispanic-American, but also as a human being. He frequently takes traditional and current elements and translates them into an abstract environment to create a unique world.
MEET THE ARTIST
Juan Ramiro Torres
Juan Ramiro Torres was born in Lima, Peru in 1965 and emigrated to the United States in 1984. In 1991, he graduated from the Parsons School of Design and since then has worked as Art Director for many newspapers and magazines in various states. He also collaborated between 1998 and 2008 for the Central Hispanic Press agency.

In 2008, he decided to dedicate himself professionally to painting and from great masters such as Jesús Rivera (Cuban) and Omiros (Greek), he acquired the knowledge and skills that would later lead him to develop his own style.

His works have been exhibited in Peru, Ecuador, Bolivia, Colombia, Argentina, the Dominican Republic, New Zealand, Italy, France, and China, as well as in important rooms in the United States, such as the United Nations (UN), Queens Art Museum, Newark Museum, New Jersey Performing Arts Center (NJPAC), MasterCard International Headquarters, International Immigrant Foundation, Pace University, New Jersey City University, Penn State University, Rutgers University, Essex County College, Bergen County Community College, Union City Museum of Art. He has also participated in international events such as the Mayfair in Pennsylvania, Scope International Contemporary Art Show in Miami, the Salon International D’Art Contemporain at the Carrousel du Louvre in Paris, France, and the Beijing China International Art Biennale.
In June 2014, he was among the 100 artists selected to show their works on a giant screen in Times Square (NYC) as part of a great collective artist event.

The quality of his works have led him to win numerous awards and recognitions and some of his works are already part of public and private collections around the world.

ARTIST STATEMENT
Juan Ramiro Torres - Born in Lima Peru. He has lived in the United States since 1984, where he studied Graphic Arts, Advertising and Illustration at the Parsons School of Design, New York City, graduating in 1991. He currently works as a plastic artist, art teacher, Art Director (Punto Hispano newspaper).
