Course Description

Photographing nature can be an intimate, relaxing, fun experience. In this course, you will learn about the various aspects of outdoor photography as well as how to master your digital camera’s controls such as shutter speed and aperture. With the knowledge you gain in this course you will become a more experienced photographer. You will explore composition and outdoor lighting and how to take compelling photographs of flowers, water, trees, the sky, and even outdoor portraiture. You will be photographing in black and white and color as well as explore photographing nature in an abstract way. Additionally, we will work on on digitally processing your photos and correct the most common problems. You will be utilizing Photoshop Express which is a free downloadable software program. At the end of six weeks not only will you be a nature photographer, but you will also be a visual poet! STUDENT MUST HAVE- 35 mm adjustable digital camera: DSLR preferable… (digital single lens reflex camera). - 32 or 64 or higher gig card reader for your camera. Card reader for computer. - 32 or 64 or higher flash drive to back up digital photographs on. - J15Home-based computer to process digital photographs. This is a hybrid course. First class at Passaic County Arts Center at the John W. Rea House. All subsequent classes in Goffle Brook Park.
